My LG Kookie makes a mark

It was a good thing I switched from SE to LG as far as cellphone is concerned.

Below is the impressive financial results of LG for the second quarter of 2009 courtesy of GSMarena.com

======

The second quarter of 2009 gave LG a reason to smile as the company achieved record-high sales and operating profit. Every single of the Korean company's divisions is on the rise with the Mobile Communications Company being the best performer.
Sales on a global basis went up 13.8 percent compared to the same period of last year to reach 11.229 billion US dollars. The operating profit jumped to 878 million US dollars resulting in a margin of 7.8 percent, 1.1 percent higher than the previous year.
Of those the sales of the mobile phones account for 3.778 billion US dollars, a huge 29.9 percent higher than the previous year. The operating profit of the division has reached 417 million US dollars for a margin of 11 percent.
The shipments of LG handsets recorded an increase of 7.8 percent YoY and 32 percent QoQ totaling 29.82 million units over the past three months. According to the company the handsets that have done the best on the market are LG Cookie, which already sold more than 5 million units, LG KS360 and the multimedia flagship LG KM900 Arena.
LG expect the global market to shrink 6 percent YoY over the next quarter to around 280 million units. However the company maintains its steady growth expectations, which should be achieved thanks to the upcoming fourth model in the LG Black Label Series, the WinMo-running GM730 and the GD900 Crystal.

Wet Sunday Dinner

Sunday 7.26.09
7:00 PM

An unplanned Sunday afternoon brought me to my best friend's condo to chill and drink a couple of bottles of GSM Premium. After a a few bottles and tons of topics to talk about, we decided to eat outside for dinner.

Zar and his wife Star, recommended that we eat at Road House in El Pueblo, Ortigas.

This cozy litlle restaurant is home to famous grills, drinks and great customer service. The first thing that you would notice is their friendly hospitality. Being a Call Center Supervisor, this type of service is top-notch. In every restaurant I dine with, if there's Salisbury Steak, that's the one I immediately order.

Their patty was well cooked and the mushroom gravy added flavor as well. It was a notch higher than what I ate in Chilis and yet more reasonable.

My friend also ordered "Silver Star" which was the restaurant's home grown Martini and it was a too much at first, but once to start sipping it, t'was actually good.
So kahit na malakas ang ulan nung Sunday, at least we made the most out of it.

Solar Eclipse - Partial in the Philippines

9:50am

I am still awestruck with the partial solar eclipse that we're currently experiencing here in the Philippines. The total solar eclipse did occur in parts of India and China, but it did not deprive us of experiencing partial cover of the moon from the sun.

Here are some photos taken from my polaroid digicam.

Some would associate an eclipse with bad omen or calamity but whatever the case maybe, it is a natural cosmic event that might cause unnatural circumstances especially to animals.

Normal to Manic Weekend (Part 2)

Interesting Finds
* Harry Potter Review

Parking Trinoma

Hmmmm... I've noticed this weekend I have been hopping at different Ayala Malls. Anyway, we went to Trinoma to watch the much anticipated Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Though originally we though watching it in Imax would be better, but we decided not too. We found out that the 3d scenes were just 10 minutes, so might as well watch it on regular cinema.

Movie: HP and the Half Blood Prince
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
This is the sixth installment of this highly successful franchise. Kahit na sobrang bashed ng mga avid fans ng books ang HP films, they still watch it. For the record, I just read Sorcorere's Stone from cover to cover, but after the movie adaptation, I opted not to read the rest of the series anymore. I am one of the many that would say "Bakit ko pa babasahin yan, eh ipapalabas din naman sa sinehan."

Anyway, not to give you much spoilers (actually namatay si Dumbledore), the movie just felt alright. The actors really grew into their roles. I was very surprised at how Emma Watson matured. She's really beautiful.

The film felt like it was a teen movie set in a wizzrd school. May love story and all.

As far as notable performances, Professor Horace was really great!!! Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy was also noticeable, well because his character plays a pivotal role in the book.

The action scenes were very few. And that maybe one of the disappointing things in the movie. Well, after everyone watched Transformers, they're expecting the same with this one.
I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

My personal favorite would still be Prisoner of Azkaban.

Krokodile Grill - Trinoma

After the movie we had dinner at Krokodile Dinner. Though the main highlight of the dinner would be the dramatic events unfolding the del Mundo family, the food was equally exciting.

I would highly recomment the following:
  1. Baked Tahong
  2. Crispy Knuckles
  3. Barbeque Squid
The restaurant was small as compared to other branches but it just sufficed the target people coming in. We were not on the waiting list and they immediately found out seats.

Here are the rest of the pictures over the weekend.

Parking at Greenbelt
Yup, it's been a while since I last dropped by Greenbelt to chill. Medyo huli na nga ako sa balita, but this was the first time I saw Greenbelt 5 at ats full-glory. Last time I saw, several months back, eh under construction na. But now, it has shops that would interest both guys and gals.

Zara at Greenbelt

Thought I might drop by at Zara, kasi may malaking plakard na naka-display and it says "SALE... SALE... SALE..."

No, I have to control my expenses. I got out immediately before I purchase something

Chilis at Greenbelt

When we were deciding where to eat, I saw Chili's balcony at Greenbelt 5 and it looked interesting. I haven't tried eating at Chilis so might as well try it.

We ordered Oldstyle Cheeseburger and Chicken Fingers matched with a bucket of beer.

Oldstyle Cheesburger - P280 + 65 for the Chili.

The patty was nice but I've tasted better burgers. The serving size was enough for a gymrat like me. May kasama pa siyang homemade fries as a side. The price is just ok, though I was hoping P300 (Chili included) will be more reasonable
Though I would want to comment on what LJ ate, I opted not to do so since I only ate small portion of it. Nabusog na kasi ako sa burger.
Would I recommed Chilis. Definitely! The ambiance is perfect, especially at the balcony because it faces the classis Greenbelt 3 and 4. The price is ok, the food (at least what I ordered) is fine.
Oh, did the mention that the crew was great and attentive!!!
